ASUS Eee PC 1215B Unboxing
“Unboxing”s are rare in the offices of MAX-IT, so imagine our surprise when we were given the opportunity to unbox ASUS’ new Eee PC, the 1215B. A netbook powered by AMD’s APU, this netbook promises high performance with low power consumption. Here the following specs for the unit at MAX-IT:
- AMD E450
- 2 GB DDR3 RAM
- 500 GB HDD
- AMD Radeon HD 6320
- 0.3 MP webcam
- 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery
- Windows 7 Starter
With that out of the way, let’s proceed with the unboxing!
The 1215B comes in an unassuming brown box, which happens to be eco-friendly as well. So you can just recycle the box if you decide to not use it.
Opening the box reveals all the Eee PC, fit snugly between pieces of cardboard. The little brown booklet is the warranty card.
Taking the 1215B out of the box reveals the hidden power brick and 6-cell battery. The bigger brown booklet is your user manual. Basically, the packaging is kept simple and the parts fit snugly. Kudos to ASUS for keeping it simple.
Here is the 1215B with the plastic packaging taken off, together with its power brick. The whole setup should take a minimal amount of desk space.
And here is the 1215B going solo. As you can see from the picture, the unit MAX-IT received is glossy red, though there are several other colour options as well.
Finally, here is the 1215B in its full glory. The keyboard should prove to be a comfortable typing experience, with the evenly-spaced chiclet keys. Measuring at 296 x 203 x 38 mm and weighing 1.45 kilos, carrying and handling the 1215B did not feel cumbersome at all.
All in all, the ASUS Eee PC 1215B is a lightweight multimedia netbook to carry around when lugging around a big notebook is a cumbersome option.
