| Panasonic Empowers Women With New Range Of LUMIX Digital Cameras |

Kuala Lumpur 16 March 2012 – Panasonic Malaysia a leading provider of Lumix digital cameras and camcorders is now targeting at women as a key growth category for its new line-up of compact cameras in 2012 to increase its market share.
The abundance of cutting-edge features, touch screens, and the renowned beauty retouch and auto retouch features define the key directions that are driving the new line-up of 14 new compact camera models and 9 camcorder models in a big way for the female’s market.
"We see new ways of photo taking, photo sharing and shooting experience, as much more than a trend. It's a reflection of consumers' lifestyles," said Jeff Lee, Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia. Ladies especially, love to take their own portrait photos. Instead of using some special software on computer to edit their portrait photos, they can instantly edit on the camera screen to make them look gorgeous and share their edited photos with family and friends.
"The demand for camera with such features spans virtually all age groups and markets. There’s a big opportunity in the teens-college market through to the 25+ market. However we’re also targeting more mature customers as well. All our cameras come in handy, compact with colourful body design that will attract the female’s attention. In fact our camcorder models are also waterproof and dustproof that are also designed and targeted for outdoor and sporty women. Both female and male consumers are embracing this trend,” said Harry Sasaki, Marketing Director Panasonic Malaysia.
“However we are focusing more female market this time. With the introduction of these new camera models we expect to increase our market share from 9% to 11% in 2012 and for camcorder we expect a reduction in market share from 17% to 13% in 2012,” added Harry.
There are six camera categories to choose from Ultra High Zoom, Travellers Zoom, Stylish Zoom, Tough & Active, Stylish Touch and Casual & Easy.
Cameras unveiled at the launch include:
LUMIX DMC-FZ47 – ULTRA HIGH ZOOM
The Lumix DMC-FZ47 packs a powerful optical zoom and attractive options including manual operation, adding full-HD video recording capability and the new Creative Control with Miniature Effect mode.
The high quality lens unit of 25mm ultra wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with powerful 24x Optical Zoom (35mm camera equivalent:25-600mm) newly features Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology to minimize light reflection that causes ghost and flare. The powerful 24x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent:25-600mm) can be increased its power to 32x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology maintaining the picture quality even using digital zoom.
Empowered by a new 12.1-megapixel Hi-Speed CCD sensor, the DMC-FZ47 is compatible with high-speed, large-capacity signal processing required for 1920 x 1080 full-HD video recording in AVCHD and high speed continuous shooting. For more artistic freedom, manual control is available with DMC-FZ47. User can enjoy image shooting expressing their intention not only in photo but also in video, utilizing a host of options including the new Creative Control or Photo Style with a wide variety of preset options. In addition, the realistic, less-distorted 3D image produced by DMC-FZ47 with the 3D Photo mode can also be enjoyed on a VIERA 3D HDTV or other MPO compatible 3D equipment.
The DMC-FZ47 retails at RM1,599 and is available in black.
DMC-TZ30 & DMC-TZ25 – TRAVELERS ZOOM
The TZ30 uses a new 14-Megapixel 'high sensitivity' MOS sensor, and has a new 24-480mm lens with 20x optical zoom. Another key new addition is the Full HD Video recording 1080p video at 50 frames per second. The screen has a 460,000-dot definition and selected touch-controls for choosing a subject to focus on or for navigating though the menus. The GPS has been upgraded a little, however, with a pre-loaded map and over a
million points of interest. The Lumix TZ25 has the same basic design as the TZ30, but with no touchscreen or GPS. It uses the 12-Megapixel MOS sensor and records HD video at 25 frames per second. The difference between the two models is that the TZ25 has 16x optical zoom and uses the 24-184 mm lens which gives excellent results, particularly at long focal lengths.
The DMC-TZ30 retails at RM1,399 and is available in black, brown, silver, red and white.
The DMC-TZ25 retails at RM1,099 and is available in black and silver.
DMC-SZ7 & DMC-SZ1 – STYLISH ZOOM
Lumix DMC-SZ7 & DMC-SZ1 are two 10x optical zoom with 25mm ultra-wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens ‘style zoom’ cameras. Both cameras feature slim and compact body, making it extremely portable and easy to carry. The LUMIX SZ7 (14.1 megapixels) can also shoot full-High Definition, 1920 x 1080 60i videos and with Light Speed AF, it has a super-fast focus response time of approximately 0.1 second – making it easy to capture spontaneous must-have photos. The LUMIX SZ1 (16.1 megapixels) features 720p HD video recording capabilities, and both models are easy to use thanks to Panasonic’s popular iA (Intelligent Auto) mode which automatically chooses the best camera settings for natural, beautiful images. The LUMIX SZ7 and LUMIX SZ1 feature two new shooting modes – Miniature Effect and Panorama Shot. In Miniature Effect mode, the peripherals are defocused while saturation and contrast is emphasized to make the picture like a diorama. Video recorded in Miniature Effect mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding, making it comical and fun to watch*1
Panorama Shot makes it possible to shoot a horizontal or vertical panoramic image by taking consecutive shots and then overlaying the photos for the effect of a panoramic photo. Furthermore, both the LUMIX SZ7 and LUMIX SZ1 feature Creative Retouch which includes six filters -Toy Effect, Soft Focus Dynamic Monochrome, Expressive, High Key and Retro, each of which give the photo a more artistic look. Both models also feature an Auto Retouch function that adjusts contrast and brightness to give the photo a different look – all with a single press of the button. The DMC-SZ7 retails at RM899 and is available in black, brown, pink and white. The DMC-SZ1 retails at RM749 and is available in black and silver, blue and red
DMC-FT4 & DMC FT20 – TOUGH & ACTIVE
The all new DMC-FT4 and FT20 are both waterproof, dustproof, drop-proof and freezeproof cameras specially geared for active outdoor use, incorporating powerful features in a rugged design. The Lumix FT4 has 12-Megapixel CCD with 28-128 mm lens and is waterproof to 12 metres, shock-proof to 2 metres. Full HD Video recording at 1080i at 50 fps with mono sound and the LCD is the same 2.6-inch affair with just 230,000 dots. FT4 has a built-in GPS function map with over a million points of interest pre-loaded.
The FT20 uses a 16-Megapixel CCD with MEGA O.I.S. and records MP4 720p HD video. It has a 25-100 mm lens and is waterproof to 5 metres and shock-proof to 1.5 metres; 2.6-inch LCD with 230,000 dots.
The DMC-FT4 retails at RM1,499 and is available in black, silver, blue and orange.

DMC-FX80 – STYLISH TOUCH
DMC-FX80 features slim elegant design and performance and seductively stylish. The FX80 features a 12.1MP camera sensor, a 24mm f2.5 wide angle lens, 5x opticalzoom, a 3” LCD touchscreen display that features touch autofocus, and the ability torecord Full HD videos. Additional features that customers can expect from the FX80 includes a variety of filter effects, such as Expressive, Retro, High Dynamic, Sepia,Dynamic Monochrome, High Key, Low Key, Miniature Effect, Toy Effect and Soft Focus.
The DMC-FX80 retails at RM899 and is available in black, white, pink, gold and violet.
DMC-FH8, DMC-FH6, DMC-FH4,– CASUAL & EASY
Panasonic’s 16.1-megapixel Lumix DMC-FH8 and 14.1-megapixel DMC-FH4 and FH6,
are slim, compact cameras.
Equipped with a Leica DC Vario-Summarit lens, the FH8 and FH6 deliver 5x optical zoomwith f/2.5 brightness with 24 mm wide angle lens. The 5x optical zoom increases to theequivalent of 10x with the iA Zoom (Intelligent Auto Zoom) function with minimumdeterioration of image quality. While FH4 delivers 4x optical zoom with 28mm wide angle lens. 5
These still cameras can also record 720p High Definition (HD) video. The FH4 and FH6 shoot HD video in Motion JPEG format while the FH8 records HD video in MP4 format. The latter also uses a dedicated video button. Available on the FH6 and FH8, the Beauty Retouch function allows giving photos a variety of cosmetic effects, Auto Retouch adjusts contrast and brightness levels to give photos a different look. The FH8 also adds Miniature Effect mode where peripherals are defocused, and saturation and contrast are emphasized to make the picture look like a diorama. Video recorded in Miniature Effect mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding, for a “comical” effect.
The FH8 offers a 3-inch LCD screen, while the FH4 and FH6 are slightly more compact with a 2.7-inch LCD screen. The Intelligent LCD screens on both models are equipped with automatic backlight adjustment. In addition, both models offer Image Uploader which lets users instantly share images and videos on Facebook or YouTube via computer. The FH8 also allows USB charging or conventional AC adapter charging methods. In iA mode users can automatically activate a suite of technologies to enhance photos without adjusting settings every time conditions change. As part of iA mode, the FH8 features AF Tracking, making it easy to lock on subjects in a frame and keep them in focus – even as they move.
All models include, in iA: MEGA O.I.S. (optical image stabilization), Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector, and Intelligent Exposure

DMC-S5, DMC-S2 – CASUAL & EASY
DMC-S5 and DMC-S3 are the new entry level S series models. DMC-S5 has 16.1 megapixel image sensor, 28 mm wide angle lens with 4x optical zoom and an updated AF system. Whilst DMC-S3 has 14.1 megapixel image sensor, 28 mm wide angle lens with 4 x optical zoom. Both models record on 720p HD Video recording.
The DMC-S5 retails at RM449 and is available in black, silver and red.
The DMC-S2 retails at RM379 and is available in black, white, pink and violet.
DMC-LS6 – CASUAL & EASY
Lumix DMC-LS6 is a compact camera that is simple and easy to use for a basic user. It features a 14 megapixel CCD sensor , 26mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom and record full HD 720p video recording.
The DMC-LS6 retails at RM279 and is available in black, silver and pink.

3MOS High-Definition Camcorders with models: HC-X900 / X900M
Panasonic achieves its highest-ever image quality in these models with 3MOS System Pro, which combines the Advanced 3MOS Sensor with its new pixel shift technology, the Leica Dicomar Lens with Nano Surface Coating Technology, and Crystal Engine Pro II with its high-speed processing capability. The HYBRID O.I.S. + suppresses blurring across the entire zoom range, to produce clear, stunning images even when taking handheld 50x zoom shots or shooting while walking.
