Samsung Apps Innovation Fueled By Creative Minds
  
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 21 June – Samsung Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, promotes the spirit of application (app) innovation for human convenience by introducing the Samsung AppStar 2012 challenge which will explore the limitless creative vision of Malaysian youths.

Themed, “You have an Idea, it’s time to be an Appstar”, the challenge offers college and university students the opportunity to express their most in-demand app ideas featuring a wealth of games, news, reference, social networking, navigation for smartphones and tablets that are relevant to contemporary lifestyle. The winning app will be brought to life by Samsung and made available for consumers locally and globally.

Speaking at the launch of Samsung AppStar 2012, Head of Mobile Phone Division, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd, Vincent Chong said, “Now with the growing app ecosystem that is in tuned with current lifestyle trends, our youths are the best talents possible to offer new possibilities for applications that will not only support daily needs but enrich everyday lives.”

The Samsung AppStar 2012 is designed to empower younger Malaysians to drive the creative process of revolutionary breakthrough applications that express their aspirations, culture and values. As a global leader in consumer electronics, Samsung is committed to the advancement of these technologies in enhancing users experience for the evolving needs of society.

“Evolution of modern lifestyle is dependent on the development of technology. Be it for work or pleasure, people rely heavily on the internet, mobile devices and applications to keep up with the fast moving pace of society. This challenge enables Samsung to stir the development of the mobile ecosystem and be at the forefront of digital convergence to help people live better lives,” added Vincent Chong.

The Samsung AppStar 2012 challenge is opened to all Malaysians between the ages of 17 to 28 years and who are currently enrolled at any higher learning institutions nationwide. Participants are encouraged to join the challenge in groups of three.
