| Samsung Introduces GALAXY Beam |

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 6 August 2012 –Trendsetters looking for a new phone now have another option to consider, the Samsung GALAXY Beam; a projector smartphone. Samsung Malaysia Electronics, global leader in digital media and digital convergence technology has unveiled the Samsung GALAXY Beam. Measuring 12.55mm, it is the world’s slimmest projector smartphone that enable users to share life’s sweetest moments with loved ones anytime and anywhere.
Projecting up to a maximum screen size of 50-inch from a distance of 2 meters, Samsung GALAXY Beam outputs nHD resolution pictures, allowing users to watch HD movies or play games on a large screen. It also has the capability of an overhead projector, giving users the flexibility of projection formats.
The Samsung GALAXY Beam is equipped with a 2,000 mAh battery, which gives the device three hours of continuous projection, ideal for movies, music videos, and scientific slideshows. The highly portable Samsung GALAXY Beam removes the need to transport AV equipment to and from venues.
“The Samsung GALAXY Beam is a testament of Samsung’s commitment to create innovative products that enrich users’ experience. The phone’s unique projector feature offers users new and meaningful ways of sharing special moments,” said Kwon Jae Hoon, Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
The device comes equipped with a 5MP camera, including a flash. It enables users to take clear pictures in broad daylight and in the dark. It also has a 1.3MP front-facing camera, which allows user to make clear video calls.
The Samsung GALAXY Beam is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core Processor complemented by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. With the Android operating system, users are able to download a wide range of applications based on specific areas of interests, and can enjoy them anywhere.
The Samsung GALAXY Beam retails at RM1,599 and is available from 27 July 2012 at all Samsung retail outlets and authorised dealers.
